# Search sessions

Search finds sessions by their transcripts, not only their titles. It runs on each device against that device's stored sessions.

## Search

1. Open search from the sidebar.
2. Type words from the conversation you remember. Search ranks results, and exact phrases match first.
3. Select a result. Admiral opens the session at the matched transcript lines.

## Filters

Narrow a search with field filters:

| Filter | Matches |
| --- | --- |
| `project:` | One project. |
| `harness:` | One agent, for example `harness:claude`. |
| `device:` | The device that hosted the session. |
| `since:` | Sessions from a period. |
| `archived:` | Include or exclude archived sessions. |

Combine a filter with words: `project:shop checkout error`.

## What search covers

- Session names and transcript text.
- Archived sessions, when you ask for them with `archived:`.

Search is per device: it indexes the sessions stored on the machine you are using. Sign in and use the device switcher to search a session that lives elsewhere.
