# FAQ

## Do I need an account?

No. A fresh install works with no account and no network. Sign in only when you want sessions on a second device or your phone.

## Does Admiral collect usage data?

Not by default. Admiral sends usage data and crash reports only from an approved tester who agreed in the app. Each kind has its own switch in Settings > Account. Admiral never collects prompts, agent output, file contents, file paths, tokens, or secrets. See [The tester program](../start/tester-program.md).

## Where do my sessions live?

On the device that ran them. A session belongs to the device that owns its project folder. Sync mirrors them to your signed-in devices, but the original stays home.

## If I sign in, will my old sessions upload?

No. Signing in does not move, upload, or import any existing session. It changes how new work syncs.

## Which agents can Admiral run?

Claude Code, Gemini (through Antigravity), and OpenCode. Sessions from agents that earlier versions ran stay readable.

## Can I use Admiral from my phone?

Yes. The iOS app joins your account and drives the engines on your machines. No engine runs on the phone.

## What happens when I close my laptop?

The host device keeps working. Your queued messages are delivered by the host, and the agent keeps running. When you come back, the transcript is up to date.

## What happens when I delete a session in Admiral?

Admiral deletes it in OpenCode too, by default. Archive the session instead if you want to keep the OpenCode original.

## Does my code leave my machine?

The agent reads and edits code where the code lives: on the host. What you send to an agent provider is governed by that provider, as with any use of that agent. Admiral's own sync runs only for signed-in accounts. A signed-out device contacts no server.

## Will my machine sleep while an agent runs?

Your choice. Power management has an off, auto, and on setting per device. Auto holds system sleep while an agent run is active, and lets the display sleep.

## How do I update Admiral?

The app checks the release feed and updates itself. From a terminal, run `admiral update`. Testers read the `beta` channel; other installs read `stable`.

## Can agents talk to each other?

Yes. Agents receive tools that let them create child sessions, delegate work, and report back. See [Run child agents](../guides/run-child-agents.md).

## Still stuck?
