Glossary
One term, one meaning. These are the words the app uses and the words this knowledge base uses.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Agent | A coding assistant program that reads, edits, and runs code. OpenCode, Claude Code, and Gemini are agents. |
| Attachment | An image you give to an agent with a prompt. It travels to the host device. |
| Change | The set of file edits an agent made on its branch. Shown in the changes pane as a diff. |
| Device | One machine that runs Admiral: a desktop, a server, or, as a viewer only, a phone. |
| Engine | The Admiral background service on a device. It runs agents, terminals, and storage for that device. |
| Headless | An engine running with no window, on a server or always-on machine. |
| Host | The device that owns a project folder. The host runs that project's agents. |
| Hull number | A short index, like 07, that identifies a session. An identity mark, not a count. |
| Jersey code | The four status colors: amber needs you, blue running, green done, red failed. |
| Model | The AI model an agent uses to think. One agent can run many models. |
| Profile | The storage mode fixed at engine start: Local, Synced, or Development. |
| Project | A folder on one device, plus the sessions that belong to it. |
| Queue | The durable list of your instructions waiting for an agent. |
| Session | One conversation in Admiral, with one transcript, in one project. |
| Sync | The optional connection that keeps sessions current across your signed-in devices. |
| Tester program | The invite-only group that gets tester builds and can share usage data, crash reports, and feedback. Each kind of data is optional. |
| Update channel | The release line an install reads: stable for every install, beta for testers. |
| Worktree | A separate copy of a repository, used so an agent can work away from your working files. |
Words this knowledge base avoids
- Space. The internal name for what the app shows as a project. User-facing pages say project.
- Chat. The internal name for what the app shows as a session. A few menu items may still say chat; they mean session.
